Nearly 3 years after Brazil lifted visa requirements for U.S. citizens, the country is reinstating the obligation beginning January 10, 2024. The $80 eVisa can be obtained online.

Online Visa Application Required for Entry

U.S. travelers must apply for a $80 eVisa online at https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/ and provide documents including passport photos, flight confirmations, and bank statements.

- Visa application form (completed online)

- Uploaded Passport-style photo (2” x 2”, white background)

- E-visa fee payment of $80.90 USD

- Confirmation of flight reservation (showing entry/exit from Brazil)

- Printed bank statement showing transactions for the last 30 days and showing at least $2,000.00 USD for travel

Online Application Replaces In-Person Visits

The new eVisa system is far more convenient than pre-2017 requirements to visit a consulate and pay $160. Approval typically comes within 5 days.

*Valid Visa for 10 Years With Multiple Entries

Once approved, the $80 eVisa allows U.S. citizens to visit Brazil repeatedly over the next decade without reapplying.

*Visa Processing Time 5 Business Days

Applicants should expect a 5 business day wait for visa approval and receive their eVisa by email. Travelers urged to apply early.
